Please note the below comes from a very excitable person who is very impressed by the smaller things!! And I really love my food!
This restaurant reached above and beyond my expectations. The decor is stunning, the food is delicious and the service was impeccable.
The Ivy restaurant was founded in 1917 and serves tasteful modern British dishes. It was redesigned in 2015 and since then has become ‘the’ place to eat and drink. From the A La Carte menu to afternoon tea, it really does have something for everyone. This unique restaurant which is originally located in London, opened yesterday (31st May 2017) in Marlow. YES…Marlow! For anyone who doesn’t want to travel into London and lives in the Buckinghamshire/Berkshire area, you now have one right on your doorstep.
I’ve been waiting a month since the announcement to eat here, and if you hadn’t guessed already by my previous post…the smaller things really do excite me! This being one of them 🙂
I know it’s only a restaurant however I am a reaaaal foodie and when a restaurant like this comes to town, I couldn’t help but visit the place on its opening day, and BOY was it good!
The set menu is affordable, costing £16.50 for two courses or £21 for three courses. On the A La Carte menu, the average price range around £6-£10 and the main meals average around £16. I ordered the ‘Wasabi prawns with salt and pepper’ starter and the ‘Crab linguini’ for main. It was really good. I’ll admit a ‘Crab linguini’ is quite plain but I quite like my crab and very little sauce. My boyfriend Matt ordered from the set menu. Ordering the ‘Mint and pea soup’, followed by ‘Wild mushroom risotto’. I’ll admit, the courses from the set menu were better than mine!! See for yourself in the photos.
The restaurant has a garden at the back and a beautiful Gatsby style layout in the main room. We sat in the garden, hence the photos being full of flowers so it looks like I’ll have to go back and take more photos of the interior.
Overall, the first visit was spot on and I can’t recommend it enough. Please let me know when you go, what you eat, I’d love more recommendations from the menu!
